They say April showers bring May flowers, but what does May bring? Well besides senior proms, the Kentucky Derby! The 142nd Kentucky Derby will be held the weekend of May 6th and 7th this year. When you think of the Kentucky Derby, what comes to mind? Well, horses of course, but also the fashion. Amazing hats and dresses! Typically, because the Derby is held the first week of May, spring dresses are the outfit of choice and what better place to start your search for the perfect Kentucky Derby dress than Mac Duggal’s spring collections.
When choosing a dress for the Derby, whether you are attending a Kentucky Derby party or the Derby itself, think spring palettes. Lighter hues, floral patterns and because it is a bit more conservative, a knee length dress. Think southern charm, perhaps vintage with an updated twist.
Here are some of my favorites for the Derby:
I love the classic elegance of the dress shown below, and the black and white colors allow for plenty of freedom in choosing the perfect hat.
This gorgeous hot pink dress with a slim silhouette has beautiful pearl beading at the neckline, making it another perfect choice.
The stunning color combination of black and yellow with the delicate bow at the waist will have heads turning on Derby day. I also love the scalloped hemline, it reminds me of beautiful yellow flowers.
If you are looking for a little more glamour, this stunner is from the Ieena Duggal collection and features a solid white with an open neckline and a ruffled skirt.
I love the gorgeous classic look of this dress, simple, elegant and the bow at the waistline perfectly accentuates your waist.
The soft color palette in a floral pattern on this dress make it another perfect choice for the Kentucky Derby!
You’ll be standing in the winner’s circle with any of these beautiful Mac Duggal dresses on Derby Day!
